RSG opens tenders for four investment projects

Rivers State Governor Chief Nyesom Wike said the hour of reckoning has come for those who continue to insist that they can take it all for themselves in the Peoples Democratic Party ( DPP).
The Governor maintained that no one can silence him for speaking out against such injustice and demanding the right thing to do.
Wike spoke at the inauguration of the Rivers State University Emohua Campus and the inauguration of the staff quarters, carried out by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, last Wednesday .
The Governor of Rivers State said that these people would certainly be held accountable for all the bad things they did on Judgment Day.
“That’s why I tell people out there, look, it can’t work. You can’t take it all away. If you take it all, it will purge you. So better do the right thing now.
“Don’t just sit there and think you can muscle me in, and you can do anything, you can handle anything. You may think you’ve got the numbers to make sure you take it all in, but the time comes when you’ll realize that. .
Wike insisted that the delivery of quality projects by him and his fellow governors would serve the PDP well in their respective states.
According to him, it would be wrong for DPP states that have failed to ensure good governance to seek votes from the electorate.
“If a PDP state is not doing well, don’t think you will be elected because APC is not doing well. If PDP State, for example, if in Rivers State, we didn’t do well, then, you’d say because the APC didn’t do well nationally, then people would vote for we. They will tell you that PDP has not done well in Rivers State. People don’t understand that. And that is why the party must respect us and know that it is we who are campaigning for the party: because we have what it takes to campaign.
The governor explained that his administration has avoided the pitfall of most governments because they do not reserve the required budget for the projects they conceptualize and end up littering local governments with unfinished projects.
He said that when projects are conceptualized, his administration provides an adequate budget to carry them out, which is why no project he assigned would be abandoned.
Wike pointed out that the creation of multiple campuses for RSU was strategic for increasing access to education, providing more space for effective teaching and learning and for developing the economy of rural communities.
“I have told the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Board that we need to establish satellite campuses so that the main campus relies on other facilities that have been occupied by some of these faculties.
“Secondly, it will be necessary to bring development to these areas. I don’t believe in creating so many universities for settlement. Yes, there is a need for access to education, having created this campus, you also create access.
The governor explained that it was his administration that started the release of capital funds for all state-owned higher education institutions.
He said his administration has approved the employment of academic and non-academic staff at all higher education institutions in the state.
The governor has directed Emohua Local Government Area Chairman Dr. Chidi Lloyd to, within the next three months; build a police station that would provide security for the new campus.
Wike also assured that the promise to rebuild the government secondary school, Emohua, would be kept, and ordered the education commissioner to inspect the site and report to his office.
During the inauguration of the campus and the inauguration of the staff quarters, the governor of Oyo State, engineer Seyi Makinde, noted that such a multi-campus of a university promotes an education of quality, widens the scope of learning and opens access to higher education.
Makinde noted Wike’s effort as evidence of his vision and commitment to the good of the people of Rivers State.
“If children are doing all this, I think what Nigeria needs are children. So, my brother (Wike), you can rest assured that Nigeria appreciates you.
“Even the fight we lost, we did not lose with our heads down. We stood for the truth and what is good for the country. We will continue to fight for our place in PDP. We will fight for what is good for our people.
For his part, the State Commissioner for Education in Rivers, Professor Chinedu Mmom, said that Wike continued to pay special attention to the need to improve the quality of education by approving the recruitment of teaching staff for the various public higher education establishments in the State.
Also speaking, Rivers State Commissioner for Special Projects Deinma Iyalla said the staff quarters would have a total of 12 apartments; six three-bedroom units and six6 two-bedroom units in two blocks of one-story buildings.
For his part, Rivers State University Vice Chancellor Prof. Nlerum Okogbule described Wike as a special gift to the institution and the state as his support has propelled RSU to an enviable height.
In his remarks, Emohua Local Government Chairman Dr. Chidi Lloyd noted that the campus has placed Emohua on the world map and would open up future development opportunities for the people.
