India will get 5G services from Reliance Jio by Diwali. Making the announcement at Reliance Industries Limited’s 45th Annual General Meeting, the company’s Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, said, “Today I want to announce the next leap forward that Jio is creating in digital connectivity, particularly in fixed broadband. This is Jio 5G. With 5G, we will connect 100 million homes with unparalleled digital experiences and smart home solutions. »

What surprised many was the timing of the engagement.

Ambani said the deployment would be by Diwali, which falls on October 24 this year. “Reliance Jio has prepared the fastest 5G deployment plan in the world. By Diwali, we will launch Jio 5G in several key cities including the metropolitan cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. By December 2023, we will deliver Jio 5G to all cities, taluka and tehsil of India,” said Mukesh Ambani, adding that the company has pledged to invest Rs 2 lakh crore for pan-India 5G network .

As recently as last week, on Thursday, Telecoms Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said 5G services will be launched by October 12 and will then be further extended to cities and towns across the country. Ambani is also committed to providing high quality services at an affordable cost. He announced, “Jio 5G services will connect everyone, every place and everything with the highest quality and at an affordable price. We are committed to making India a data-driven economy, even ahead of China and the United States.

Ambani went on to add that Jio was working with Google to develop an ultra-affordable 5G smartphone and that Reliance would partner with Qualcomm to develop 5G solutions.

The 5G telecom spectrum auction, which ended on August 1, was the largest in the country’s history, attracting bids of a record Rs 1.5 lakh crore. Mukesh Ambani’s Jio got nearly half of the airwaves sold with a price tag of Rs 87,946.93 crore. This is an exciting time for India’s telecom sector. As India prepares to roll out 5G services in the coming months, Prime Minister Modi said the Center is preparing to launch 6G services in the country. “It could be done as early as the end of this decade,” the Prime Minister said, addressing the Grand Final of the Smart India Hackathon 2022 on Thursday August 25.
